Step 1: CardScan autosenses that a business card is in the scanner tray and initiates scanning. At that time, using Optical Character Recognition (OCR), CardScan Software reads the letters and symbols on the card.

Step 2: Then, using CardScan's powerful AccuCard Technology, CardScan Software identifies what the information on the card represents. Is it a name, a title, a fax number or an e-mail address? AccuCard enables CardScan to correctly parse and sort the card's data into the correct fields. AccuCard is what tells the software that John Hancock Mutual Life is not a person named "John", but is instead the company that this person represents. Once AccuCard has sorted the data, a process that takes only a second, all the scanned and sorted information from the contact is deposited into an electronic Rolodex-style database.

Step 3: Once your business cards are in a CardScan database, you realize many benefits. Save time searching for a contact using QuickSearch by typing only a few characters of anything you can remember about that contact. Perform other routine tasks such as automatically launching a pre-addressed e-mail with just one click. With CardScan Software on your desktop, you can create categories, add notes to any card, sort your contacts any way you like and much, much more.

Step 4: CardScan also gives you the important capability to synchronize your contacts with your PalmPilot, any Windows CE device, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Outlook, ACT!, GoldMine and many other products. This means you can take your contacts on the road with you, using any personal digital assistant or handheld PC. With new two-way synchronization you never have to worry about where you were when you got that latest bit of information - whether on the road using your PalmPilot, or at your desk using CardScan or Outlook.
